The legal director of the Sikh body  Wanda Day Sanchez reportedly told the media that on Tuesday that the summit would be held from July 10 to 14, which would allow Sikhs to self identify in the 2020 American Census, adequate reporting of hate crimes by law enforcement and discrimination against Sikhs. She said that during the ‘Sikh Summit’, 10-12 young adults, ranging from 17 to 32 years, would also be a part of the United Sikhs 2017 Advocacy and Humanitarian Aid Academy (AHAA).

“These young leaders will learn and obtain practical experience advocating on Sikh civil rights matters,” she adds.

“They pledged to stand with us to push forward legislation protecting Sikh Americans and allow for religious accommodations where necessary, ” she purportedly said.
