Chandigarh/ Punjab (September 08, 2013): Punjabi rapper Zo Zo Honey Singh has reportedly approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking HC’s direction to dismiss FIR registered against him.
It is notable that on the complaint of a social organization Human Empowerment League of Punjab (HELP), the Nawanshehr police had registered an FIR against Honey Singh for promoting vulgarity and harming public morals.
In a petition moved by Honey Singh, the controversial rapper has urged the High Court to order dismissal of FIR that has been registered under section 294 of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
As per information High Court judge Anmol Rattan Singh has taken up the plea moved by Honey Singh. The HC has asked SSP of Nawanshehr and the HELP to file a reply before September 10, 2013.
It is notable that there is a strong resentment in the society against many Punjabi singers who are promoting vulgarity through their songs. Many social organizations are up in arms against what is being terms as ‘cultural pollution’.
