Chandigarh: Upcoming movie “Nanak Shah Fakir ” is caught into huge controversy as the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) has expressed serious concerns over it. SGPC Avtar Singh Makkar said that the SGPC has already rejected the movie.
As per Chandigarh Amar Ujala, the SGPC chief said: ‘the SGPC has already rejected the moive and if the producer heads with its release he will have to face the consequences’.
Avtar Singh Makkar also raised objections to a message “Our Sincere Thanks to Sri Akal Takht Sahib for support and blessings” used in tailor of the moive released over YouTube few days back.
“The makers of the movie- Nanak Shah Fakir are trying to misguide people by displaying a message that the movie is supported by Akal Takht Sahib”, said Avtar Singh Makkar.
“Akal Takht does not support movies etc.”, he added.
He said that movies made on Sikh history could only be released after clearance from the SGPC. There is a clear bar on depiction of Sikh Gurus and their families in films etc. As Nanak Shah Fakir movie depicts Guru Nanak Ji as a character of the movie, therefore it was rejected by SGPC, Avtar Singh Makkar said.
Giani Gurbachan Singh, Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib, has also clarified that no support was extended to Harinder Sikka or anyone else of “Nanak Shah Fakir” movie.
Akal Takht Sahib has not extended any support to Nanak Shah Fakir moive, Giani Gurbachan Singh told Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) over phone.
A Sikh youth body, Sikh Youth of Punjab, has also declared to oppose the movie.
