Farmers’ leader Surjeet Singh Phool also took part in this discussion. He narrated the story of his sufferings as he was booked by Punjab police under UAPA. Sharing his own experience he said that even if we leave aside the role of governments and the police, even the role of judiciary is also disheartening while dealing with cases registered under UAPA. He said that even judges turn blind eye towards the facts and sufferings of the person framed under UAPA and toe the police line in granting police remand and denying independent medical examination.
