Dabwali/Sirsa (July 29, 2013): A court of additional sessions and district judge of Sirsa has pronounced it’s decision in a 2008 case related to a Dabwali incident, where a clash had took place between the Dera Sauda Sirsa followers and the Sikhs. The court has reportedly sentenced seven Sikhs to under go imprisonment of 7 years each.
It is notable that on 18 July, 2008 the Dera Sauda Sirsa followers had held a program as a challenge to the Sikh Sangat. When the Sikh Sangat objected to their program dera followers attacked the Sikhs. During the clash, the dera followers killed Bhai Harmandar Singh Dabwali, while one dera follower named Leelu Ram had sustained injuries.
After the incident the police had booked eight Sikhs named Shivraj Singh (resident of Aklian), Balkaran Singh (Dabwali), Amarjit Singh (Aklian) Nirmal Singh (Dabwali), Gurpreet Singh (Dabwali), Giani alias Raju (Goniana Mandi), Sonu alias Gubinder Singh (Dabwali) and Pappu. Pappu had reportedly died during the trial where as other seven persons have been sentenced to 7 years imprisonment by Additional sessions judge Sandeep Singh.
It is notable that no one has been convicted so far for the murder of Bhai Harmandar Singh Dabwali.
Panthic Sewa Lehar leader Baba Baljeet Singh Daduwal and Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satikar Sabha leader Bhai Sukhwinder Singh Khalsa has condemned the court decision while terming it as “anti-Sikh”.
