Hoshiarpur, Punjab (July 31, 2012): Dal Khalsa today strongly condemned the decapitation of statues of Bhimbaro Ambedkar at three places in UP and urged the Akilesh Yadav’s government to take stern action against the culprits.

According to reports Ambedkar’s statue was damaged and the head was thrown in a field in Katat village in Mehnagar area last day. The Dalit icon’s statues were also damaged in Nai Palia and Jiyasath village.

Party’s general secretary Dr Manjinder Singh and youth wing leader Prabhjot Singh in a joint statement said it’s shocking and disgusting to hear that the statues of Dalit icon Shri Ambedkar has been vandalized. They urged the chief minister of UP to act swiftly and sternly.

Expressing solidarity with Dalit brothers, they said such shameless action of few miscreants needs to be nipped in the bud.

Taking a dig at run-of-the-mill politics being practiced in UP, they said, “who so-ever was behind the act and whatever reason there could be, showing disrespect to a person who is not alive, is immoral and unethical”.
