Dal Khalsa criticize Punjab government over Ajnala 1857 memorial

Amritsar, Punjab (March 11, 2014): Dal Khalsa leader Kanwar Pal Singh fired a salvo against Punjab government for going ahead to build memorial in memory of soldiers of 1857 mutiny despite knowing the fact that these soldiers were at one time part of British army, participated in Anglo-Sikh war and worked against the interest of Punjab and Sikhs.

He slammed Badals for ignoring voices of reasoning raised by Jathedatr Akal Takht, historians, intellectuals and Sikh bodies on this matter.

“Parkash Singh Badal is a weak character politician that succumbs to pressure fearing loss of votes on every controversial issue. “Both the decisions putting Jat Sikhs in OBC category and building memorial in Ajnala are dictated by vested political interests”. Badal is a leader who has done maximum damage to Sikh ideology by heavily compromising on principles and moral values. “Being a selfish leader, his preference is always to his own politics”.

He said the decision of Punjab cabinet to place Jat Sikhs in OBC category was in contrast to Sikh principles and Guru’s philosophy. “It’s ironic that keeping an eye on Jat Sikh vote-bank, the Badals have taken unprincipled step”.
