Reinstatement of Gurmeet Pinky: Dal Khalsa lashes out at Sukhbir, police leadership of state

Hoshiarpur, Punjab: Dal Khalsa today expressed deep anguish and concern over the manner political as well as police leadership of the state was hoodwinking and deceiving the people either by maintaining studied silence or issuing contradictory versions on the controversial reinstatement of renegade Gurmeet Singh Pinki. The organization also blamed the media for not adhering to professional ethics and playing partisan role.

Party head H S Dhami slammed Sukhbir Singh Badal, who also holds the portfolio of Home Affairs for trying to distance him from the controversy. He said Sukhbir should break his silence and clear the mess.

Gurmeet Pinky has always been treated by the police leadership with velvet gloves. His proximity with present DGP, VIP treatment during prison term and subsequently his pre-mature release in a murder case, leaves no one in doubt that the move to reinstate him was engineered by the DGP himself, said he.

“I am more than convinced that a middle level rank officer (read DIG) can’t reinstate the dismissed. controversial and convicted cop on his own or while keeping his superiors in dark. That’s for sure, the whole episode was managed from the top and in the event of things gone wrong, the DIG has been made a scapegoat”.

The media report suggests that it was the ADGP (intelligence) who by chance got the wind of the development and alerted the DGP who further informed the Deputy CM that led to revoking of the reinstatement order. “Any sensible person can easily make out that the story has been written with an aim to give clean-chit to the DGP”, he said.

Even if one goes by the news report that the top spy ( who happens to be ears and yes of the govt) was unaware of what’s going on in his own yard, then by this time, either he should have quit the post owning professional failure or the government should not have wasted a single minute to replace him with better skilled person. However, nothing such has happened, he remarked.

Ironically, the readers have been made to understand by one section of the media that it was the DIG who committed blunder on his own and seniors had nothing to do with it rather they swung into action the moment they came to know. Another section of media has totally diametrical views- the government and the DGP office was in loop. Wondering whom to believe, he said people at large were confused.

Dal Khalsa leader further said it was only person who could dig out the truth and that’s Chief Minsiter Parkash Singh Badal. He said the CM should keep in mind that the Pinki was sentenced to life in the murder case of an innocent teenage boy who had nothing to do with militancy. “Aggrieved family of deceased was looking for justice and we hope Badal would not dishearten them”, said Dhami.

He lambasted BJP leaders of Punjab for helping the killer cop and condemned all those Congress, SAD, AAP leadership for not calling spade a spade.
