Damdami Taksal backs Dhadrianwale attackers; Baba Dhumma says he was ignorant

May 23, 2016 | By

Mehta/ Amritsar: As per media reports, Damdami Taksal (Mehta Faction) chief Baba Harnam Singh Dhumma today virtually admitted to his organization’s  supporters’ role in the May 17 attack on Sikh pracharak Bhai Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale near Ludhiana.

“Some of the arrested persons are students of the Damdami Taksal and are getting education here. Even the vehicles belong to the Taksal but I was unaware about all this,” said Baba Harnam Singh Dhumma while talking to mediapersons at the Taksal headquarters in Chowk Mehta, 40 km from here.

He also announced full support, including legal aid, to the assailants.

“The attack on Dhadrianwale is the result of his objectionable remarks on Taksal’s ‘dastar’ (turban) and his false propaganda,” he said.

He said that the Damdami Taksal stands behind the arrested attackers as they have represented the ‘feelings of the Damdami Taksal’.

Notably Bhai Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale’s conclave was attacked by about three dozen people near Ludhiana on May 17. Bhai Dhadrianwale’s companion Bhai Bhupinder Singh was killed in this attack. The police have arrested eight Damdami Taksal men in relations to this attack.

The attackers had set-up a Chhabil as part of their plan to attack Bhai Dhadrianwale. Many Sikh circles have condemned the attack.

It is notable Bhai Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale and Baba Harnam Singh Dhumma were using low-language against each other before the incident.
