Amritsar, Punjab (February 20, 2013): David Cameron, the leader of the Conservative Party and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, said that he was fortunate to be the Prime Minister of UK to visit Sri Darbar Sahib, a holy Sikh shrine, in Amritsar (Punjab).
David Cameron, who is currently visiting Punjab paid a visit to Sri Darbar Sahib (more commonly known as the Golden Temple of Amritsar) on February 20, 2013. He was received by Punjab’s Prime Minister Parkash Singh Badal, SGPC President Avtar Singh Makkar and others at Sri Darbar Sahib and was honoured with a Siropao (the rob of honour) by Srihomani Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) at SGPC’s information centre located at the entrance of Sri Darbar Sahib complex.
David Cameron has described his visit to the Darbar Sahib as “fascinating” and “illuminating”.
A tweet by David Cameron, in this regard reads: “A fascinating & illuminating visit to the Golden Temple in Amritsar”.
“I’m fortunate to be the first UK PM to go there” it reads further.
The visiting British Prime Minister has also posted a photo of his visit of Sri Darbar Sahib with this tweet at his official Twitter profile @David_Cameron, that is reportedly run by by David Cameron and @conservatives team.
