Dead body of UK based NRI Ranjit Power identified by Punjab police; Bother to verify identity on family’s behalf

Jalandhar, Punjab: A body has recently been found by police searching for murdered Wolverhampton businessman Ranjit Singh Power. Police believe that this was dead body of UK based NRI Ranjit Power and the police has informed his family about Ranjit Power’s murder and recovery of dead body.
The dead body of NRI businessman was reportedly found by divers near Pihova area.
Ranjit Power’s family friend Darshan Singh, who is currently in Punjab/ India, has reportedly identified the dead body. Some media reports have quotes Darshan Singh saying that the dead body of Ranjit Power was found in a canal and was in poor condition.

He said it was the right height and wore “exactly the same kara” as Ranjit Power. The ‘Kara’ was reportedly brought from Hemkunt Sahib by the mother of deceased businessman.
Police said that the height and chest measurement of the dead body have tallied with those of Ranjit Power.
Police has called Ranjit Power’s bother Avtar Singh Power to India to identify the dead body.
Ranjit Power was born on September 7, 1960 to parents Gurmeet and Dharam, with one sister, Kalwinder Kaur and brothers Amrik Singh, Kashmir Singh and Gurpreet Singh.
He bought the Ramada Park Hall Hotel four years ago, having previously owned the Connaught Hotel on Tettenhall Road before selling it in 2004.
The 54-year-old businessman had flown out to Punjab from Birmingham Airport on May 7 and when he arrived at Amritsar Airport in Punjab later that day he spoke to his partner Angela Bir. He had been due to return on May 14 but never again contacted his family.
According to the police he was murdered by his business partner Baldev Deol.
