Delhi protest by Sikh organizations postponed to March 9; Police crackdown continues

Ludhiana: Punjab police has unleashed crackdown against Sikh activists supporting hunger strike of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa. The police has reportedly arrested a number of Sikh activists while others have gone underground to avoid arrests. Meanwhile Sikh organizations have postponed March 3 protest at Jantar Mantar to March 9.

Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa’s hunger strike continues

In a statement release to the media, Satnam Singh Manawan, Harpal Singh Cheema and Kanwar Pal Singh Bittu said that the Center government was not granting permission to hold protest at Jantar Mantar, so Sikh organizations are forced to postpone the protest.

The the protest will be held on March 9, they added.

Sikh leaders also condemned police crackdown against peaceful Sikh movement to secure release of Sikh political prisoners, who have completed the terms of their sentences.
