Representatives of Panthic Organizations Tendering Memorandum to Giani Gurbachan Singh

Various Sikh religious, political and social organizations have requested Jathedar Akal Takht Gurbachan Singh to ensure that The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) implement edict against Sirsa based Dera Sauda Sirsa.

The delegation including Bhai Harpal Singh Cheema, Bhai Kulbir Singh Barapind, Bhai Daya Singh Kakkar and large number of other representatives of Shiromani Akali Dal (Panj Pradhani), Bhai Mohkam Singh (Khalsa Action Committee), S. Parmjit Singh Gazi (Sikh Students Federation), Bhai Sarabjit Singh Ghumaan (Dal Khalsa), Bibi Parmjeet Kaur of Khalra Mission Organisation and the Advocate Simranjit Singh (Sikhs for Human Rights) made this request in a memorandum to the Jathedar here today.

Secretary General of SAD (Panch Pardhani) Harpal Singh Cheema said that on the one hand Sikh Sangat and struggling Panthic organizations are committed to implementation of edits of Sri Akal Takhat sahib but on the other hand ruling party (Badal Dal) is openly supporting Dera Sauda Sirsa (DSS). They claimed that Punjab Government is patronizing dera sauda programs and socalled ‘nam charcha’. Sikh organizations asked Jathedar of Sri Akal Takhat Sahib to ensure that SGPC and ruling Badal Dal also abide by the edicts of Sri Akal Takht.

Bhai Harpal Singh Cheema and Bhai Kulbir Singh Barapind of Panch Pardhani enumerated many instances where the Panthic programs were withdrawn at the final movements and were never held again by SGPC under pressure from Badal Dal. ‘All this hurts the feelings of Sikh Sangat, so responsibility should be fixed in this regard’ they added.

They informed SikhSiyasat Network that the Jathedar assured to take up the demand at the meeting of the five Singh Sahibs  scheduled to be held here on October 1. While talking to the delegation the Jathedar also said the present dispensation in the state was not a panthic government but a coalition with the BJP and added a panthic government would only be formed when all Sikh political organisations joined hands and form government in Punjab.

SAD (Panch Pardhani) in a memorandum tendered to Jathedar, Sri Akal Takhat Sahib, sought that the Sikh families which bore the brunt during the anti-Dera Sacha Sauda campaign must be felicitated. Dal demanded that false cases filed against Panch Pardhani chairman Bhai Daljeet Singh Bittu and other Sikhs should be withdrawn and Jathedar should direct the ruling partly to do so. Giani Gurbachan Singh, the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takhat Sahib agreed to all points raised by Panch Pardhani and other Sikh organizations and ensured that they shall discuss the issue in upcoming meeting of Singh Sahibs.

The delegation also met Bhai Daljeet Singh Bittu in Amritsar Jail and informed that he is in Charhdikala.

Later on in a Press Conference held at Azad Bhawan, the Head office of Dal Khalsa, Bhai Mohkam Singh, Convener of the Khalsa Action Committee (KAC),  demanded a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act against Sanjiv Bhardwaj, Hindu Suraksha Samiti leader for ‘irresponsible’ statement .Bhardwaj had asked from the government to make it clear whether Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale was a terrorist or a sant and even announced Rs 7 lakh as head price for Bhai Jagtar Singh Tara. Sikh Leaders said that Hindu extremists have to right to question the personalities of Sikh Heroes and martyrs.
