Ludhiana, Punjab: A press release by PD Network says Sikh Parcharak Baba Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale again visited Bapu Surat Singh Ji on May 14 to show support and solidarity for his struggle.

The 82-year old Bapu Surat Singh is on indefinite hunger strike since January 16. Based at village Hassanpur in Ludhiana, Bapu Surat Singh has been peacefully campaigning for the release of Sikh political prisoners languishing in Indian jails after completing their minimum terms.

Press release by PD Network notes that Baba Ranjit Singh Khalsa previously visited Bapu Surat Singh on 5 May 2015, and the Jatha from Parmeshar Dwar participated in the event that took place on 10 May 2015 at Hassanpur.

Bhai Ranjit Sindh Dhadrianwale said that he was highlighting the cause of Bapu Surat Singh during his Gurmat diwans.

“Often fear of the past clouds our judgment, but not every person is essentially the same. Historic failures by another should not necessarily always lead to a prejudgment of the endeavors by others in the future”, he said.

It may be recalled that Bapu Surat Singh (82) is on continuous hunger strike since January 16. He is demanding release of Sikh political prisoners who have already completed minimum mandatory terms of their sentences.

Police kept him on force-feeding through his nose for about two months at the Civil Hospital in Ludhiana. He was released by the police on April 24 after his family members met President of India.

Bapu Surat Singh’s hunger strike entered 122nd day today.

It is notable that Gurbaksh Singh, who had held hunger strike twice for release of Sikh political prisoners, but who had retracted from his stand both times, visited Bapu Surat Singh yesterday. Gurbaksh Singh reportedly faced wrath of Sikh sangat at village Hassanpur during his visit. Sources said that he was assaulted and ousted from Bapu Surat Singh’s house by some youth activists.
