New Delhi: The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has decided to set up a printing press in Europe and Canada for preparing Saroops of Guru Granth Sahib in accordance of Rehat Maryada.

The executive committee of DSGMC held a meeting under the aegis of Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh and resolved to set up a printing press abroad to ensure availability of Swaroops of the Sikhs’ holy book to devotees in foreign countries without flouting Rehat Maryada, DSGMC president Manjit Singh GK said .

The SGPC too wanted to set up an international Sikh Centre and publishing house over 13.5 acres of land donated by Peach King of California Didar Singh Bains. It has even launched SGPC USA Inc in Yuba city of California and opened an account in Bank of America for this.

“There are some teething problems, so we are yet to begin printing of Saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib,” said SGPC additional secretary Daljit Singh Bedi.

DSGMC chief Manjit Singh GK said a team of DSGMC would be visiting various countries in Europe and Canada to find a suitable place to set up the printing press besides studying the latest printing technology and transportation system.

“Printing and transporting the Saroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib is a sensitive religious matter and we will be going ahead with our project under the guidance of five Jathedars,” said GK. They have given a copy of the resolution to Giani Gurbachan Singh for consideration during the Sikh Jathedars’ meeting.
