New Delhi/ Canada: In a written statement released today the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (DSGMC) media advisor Parminder Pal Singh said that he has sent a notice to a Canadian Punjabi newspaper for alleged the defamation of the DSGMC. The notice is sent on behalf of DSGMC.
Parminder Pal Singh has maintained that Canadian Punjabi Newspaper Daily Hamdard presented a news related to DSGMC chief Manjit Singh GK and general secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa’s meeting with some US official in a “wrongful way”.
Delhi committee’s media advisor claimed that Manjit Singh GK and others had raised the issue of alleged illegal immigration and misuse of asylum with US officials but the newspaper (Daily Hamdard) published this news in a wrongful way maintaining that the DSGMC had demanded enquiry against Sikhs who have sought asylum in the United States. News reported by Daily Hamdard newspaper has resulted in massive harassment for the DSGMC and the Delhi based Sikh body ‘had to face anger of Sikh community over social media networks’, he alleged.
DSGMC has demanded ‘unconditional apology’ from the newspaper. “They should apologise to DSGMC or be ready to face defamation case worth Rs. 100 crores”, said Parminder Pal Singh.
On being asked to furnish a copy of memorandum tendered by Manjit Singh GK and others to the US authorities so that his claims could be verified, Parminder Pal Singh said that the content of the news report published in the Canadian newspaper was okay and only its ‘headline was very misleading‘ “.
