Election Commission team in Punjab to review preparations for Punjab Polls 2017

Chandigarh (August 22): A five- member team of Election Commission of India headed by Sandeep Saxena Deputy Election Commissioner of India today met the Chief Electoral Officer Punjab V.K.Singh and other officers of Punjab government to review the Poll Preparedness for the ensuing Punjab Assembly Elections.

While addressing the officers Mr. Saxena asked them to ensure effective implementation of the directive of the ECI to conduct free and fair polls in Punjab.

V.K.Singh assured the ECI team that Chief Electoral Office Punjab had already launched an extensive campaign to motivate first time voters to get their Voter Cards made so that they could cast their vote in the coming Assembly elections.

The other members of the visiting ECI team included Mr. Sudip Jain Director General ECI, Nikhil Kumar Director ECI, Sumit Mukherjee and Mr. Avinash Kumar both Secretaries ECI.

The meeting was attended by Manjeet Singh Narang Additional CEO, Hardeep Singh Dhillon, DGP Law and Order, C.S.R Reddy, ADGP Provisioning and Modernization and Naunihal Singh IG Law and Order besides the Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents Of Police of all the districts of Punjab.
