Patiala: An explosion at a residential area near Lakkar Mandi in Patiala on Monday left a man and a child dead while three others were injured.
The deceased have been identified as Mumtiaz, 25, and Sameer, a 2-year-old child.
Injured have been admitted to the Rajindra hospital for treatment.
As per media reports, a neighbour of the deceased said the youth along with the children was trying to break a discarded explosive while collecting metal out of burning rags.
The Tribune (TT) has quoted Rahul Kaushal, SHO Kotwali, saying: “The police have checked the blast site and have collected discarded explosives and broken glass along with other things. We have brought in a team from the forensic department. The investigation is going on.”
The police said the bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem.
