On November 10th, 2024, a Samagam was held at Gurdwara Sahib C-2 in Janakpuri, New Delhi, to honor the lives lost and remember the Sikh Genocide of 1984. The event brought together various speakers, including Dr. Sewak Singh, who delivered an insightful and thought-provoking speech on the importance of preserving the history of the Sikh community. Dr. Sewak Singh emphasized the critical need for Sikhs to preserve and pass on their history to future generations. He urged that it is essential for Sikhs to tell their own stories, write their own history, and share these narratives with their children. By doing so, the history will carry deep meaning and have a greater impact on the community. Dr. Singh also cautioned against relying on others, particularly those with whom we have differences, to tell our history. He highlighted that such external accounts may fail to reflect the true spirit of the Sikh community’s struggles, sacrifices, and triumphs. We invite you to listen to Dr. Sewak Singh’s powerful message and share it with others, so that the Sikh Genocide of 1984 and the rich history of the Sikh community are never forgotten.
