Four Sikhs acquitted by Patiala court in a 2010 fabricated case

Patiala, Punjab (August 12, 2014): According to information released by Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur on August 11, a Pataila court has acquitted 4 Sikhs namely Harminder Singh, Manjinder Singh, Gurjant Singh and Jaswinder Singh in a fabricated case.

The FIR number 159 dated 28 April 2010 was registered under sections 3, 4, 5 of Explosives Act.

According to information the case was related to a blast that had took place in Arya Samaj Chowk of Patiala on April 20, 2010 at around 9 pm, in which 7 persons had sustained injuries. The then Patiala SSP Ranbir Singh Khatra on April 21, 2010 had stated that it was an electric short-circuit and not some bomb blast.

But after about 8 days, on April 28, 2010 the Patiala police registered a case of bomb blast against unidentified persons.

In July 2010 the police had framed four Sikhs in this so-called blast case.

The case scummed in the court of Additional session judge Pushwinder Singh.

Advocate Barjinder Singh Sodhi had defended this case in the trial court on behalf of Sikhs who were framed by the police.
