Ludhiana (December 7, 2009): As per certain media reports Bihari migrants have attacked and injured six of Punjabi youth Daba-Lohara road on Sunday evening.

“With fear and mistrust prevailing in Ludhiana after two days of violence, especially in the areas cohabited by migrants and locals, six Punjabi youths sustained injuries, two of them seriously, after a group of migrants attacked them.” says a news published by Express news service (ENS).

News report further reads that the Inspector General, Jalandhar Zone, Sanjeev Kalra rushed to the spot with a large team to take stock of the situation. “What we have come to know till now is that these boys had been seen roaming in the area on a scooter and a motorcycle. According to the migrants, the injured were a gang of robbers who had been attacking and robbing them.”

It is strange that the police and administration is lean towards migrated Biharis as they were allowed to disturb the city and robe civilians for hours on Friday Administration has continuously failed to protect local residents. The incidents like that of Sunday could lead to big confrontation between Biharis and Punjabis.

“If at all Biharis had some grievances, these were against the police and the administration. Why they are attacking local residents?” asked a local resident of Gurdev Nagar. “The robbers are unidentified, they even loot locals too, so Biharis have no point in attacking our youth.” He added.

On the other hand Bihar government and Bihari leaders like Nitish Kumar are asking Punjab to provide security to migrated labour.
