Ludhiana, Punjab (September 20, 2015): Writers, Students, teachers and leaders from around the state who gathered here today on call of Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle resolved to work for development of Punjabi language and Gurmukhi script. Issuing an emotional appeal to all Punjabis to maintain the prestige and glory of Punjabi language, the gathering unanimously passed seven resolutions urging government to implement usage of Punjabi at all levels including Judiciary and legislature.
Chief Guest at the conference, Dr Charanjit Singh, Speaker, Punjab Assembly, while paying rich tributes to those who sacrificed for the creation of Punjabi Suba, assured to implement usage of Punjabi in Vidhan Sabha and its secretariat. Dr Daljit Singh, Education Minister Punjab, while presiding over the conference appreciated the sincere efforts being put in by Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle for the development of Punjabi Language. He agreed to take up with state government the issues raised by scholars and the resolutions adopted during the conference.
Guest of honors S. Sukhdev Singh Bhaur, General Secretary, Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee, Amritsar informed that the first ever resolution passed by the general house of SGPC was to implement Punjabi in its working.
Earlier S. Partap Singh Chairman, Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle welcomed the delegates who braved heavy rain to reach the conference. Participants included Punjabis from various walks of life. He announced the formation of ‘Punjabi Bhasha Vikas Ate Parsar Kender’ to promote Punjabi Language.
Shri Mitar Sen Meet, an eminent novelist and legal luminary proposed amendments to Punjabi language act 1967 in his informative presentation. Dr Chinderpal, Head Punjabi Computer Learning Center, Punjabi University, Patiala presented paper on use of computer for development of Punjabi language. Dr Sarabjot Kaur, former head of Punjabi Department, Govt. College, Ludhiana and President Sahitkar Sadan detailed the strategy for growth of Punjabi language. Engg. Karamjit Singh gave presentation on working of Governmental and Gemi Governmental Organizations engaged in implementation and development of Punjabi language.

Pritpal Singh President Gurdwara Dukh Niwaran Sahib, Ludhiana, Thekedar Kanwalinder Singh, Counsellor S. Harbhjan Singh Dang, Smt. Mamta Ashu Counsellor, Baba Ajit Singh, S. Harbir Singh Bhanwar, Dr. Iqbal Singh Dhillon, Prin. Prem Singh Bajaj, S. Surinder Singh Kaile, Dr. Pandher PAU Ludhiana, Madam Bhindar, National Awardee Gurcharan Kaur Kochar, S. Jagbir Singh and about 400 delegate, professor, teachers, students, volunteers from all over Punjab attended the conference.
Dr Hari Singh ‘Jachak’, convener of Punjabi Bhasha Vikaas Conference told that in the state of Punjab since its inception in 1967, Punjabi has not been implemented in legislature, Judiciary and executive. S. Pirthi Singh Chief Secretary of the Study Circle said that Punjabi has not been given the respect deserved by the mother tongue. Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle has taken upon this cause and this conference is a step in this direction, he said.
Seven resolutions were presented which were passed by the gathering amidst chanting of bole so nihaal sat sri akaal. Sardar Iqbal Singh, Additional Chief Secretary (Social) moved resolution requesting amendments to the Punjabi Language Act. Dr. Avininderpal singh, Addl Chief Organizer, Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle proposed the resolution demanding high powered State language tribunal. Surjit Singh, Ludhiana moved resolution with regards to effective implementation of Punjabi as official language. Gurpreet Singh from Mukatsar proposed the resolution demanding popularization of punjabi computer education and training. Kanwaljit Kaur, Deputy Chief Organizer, women council, demanded a coordination committee for bringing about uniformity in researches done in punjabi language. S. Harjit Singh, Zonal President, Ropar–SBS Nagar Zone moved resolution demanding infrastructure for like Punjabi softwares and windows for effective use of Punjabi in Government offices. Gurcharan Singh, Amritsar asked for teaching of Punjabi language from grade one in private schools as well. S. Gurmit Singh, Chief Administrator Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle, endorsed these resolutions. S. Inderpal Singh Chief Collaborator has issued on earnest appeal to the Punjabis through out the world to put all out efforts and do sewa for promotion of Punjabi language and Gurmukhi script.
Dr Balwinderpal Singh, Additional Chief Organizer, Languages Literature and Cultural affairs while thanking the dignitaries and participants said that Study Circle will further strengthen and accelerate the movement for promotion of Punjabi Language.
