Gold and Cash goes missing from Gurdwara Nada Sahib; Partap Bajwa demands high level probe

August 14, 2014 | By

Chandigarh (August 14, 2014): According to a news reported by YesPunjab.Com, [t]he Punjab Congress President, Partap Singh Bajwa, while demanding a high level inquiry into the gold and cash missing from the historical Nada Sahib gurdwara in Panchkula in Haryana, said it had reinforced the allegations against the Badals of misappropriating gurdwara funds.

He said what was all the more serious was that the record of the historical Gurdwaras in Haryana had been destroyed by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee staff so that the newly formed Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee could not detect the irregularities in case the control of Gurdwaras in that state was transferred to the new body in case the Supreme Court so directed.

He called upon the Haryana government to order probe into the allegations levelled none other than by Jagdish Singh Jhinda, who had taken over as the President of the HSGMC and it could not just be dismissed. The SGPC had been resisting the transfer of Gurdwaras in Haryana to the HSGMC precisely because of the irregularities that were being committed in the account of the Gurdwaras.

“All along, it has been too well known a fact that the Badals have been misusing the golak money for personal and political ends that amounts to corruption. It is only now that the evidence is emerging with gold and cash missing from Nada Sahib after the enactment of the HSGMC which is waiting for the control to be transferred to it. It is the Chief Minister, Parkash Singh Badal, who owes an explanation as it is he who virtually controls all the Sikh institutions”, Bajwa added.

Congress party’s state chief asserted the aspirations of the people of Haryana could not be suppressed by . Badal after the enactment of the HSGMC and now the real motives of the Badals to resist transfer of Gurdwaras stood exposed with the revelations that cash and gold had been taken away from the Gurdwaras whose control the SGPC was likely to lose.

He charged the Badals with exploiting even the Darbar Sahib (Amritsar) for furthering their commercial interests by monopolising the live transmission of Gurbani from the sanctum sanctorum though the TV channels owned by the ruling family.

He said the real threat to the Panth was from the leaders like Badal who had destroyed and denigrated every Sikh institution after emerging as the undisputed leader in the Akali domain. Now the people had seen his real face, he said while criss-crossing the Talwandi Sabo constituency for monitoring the campaign and meeting various senior congress leaders who are camping in various villages.
