As per information Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh and Takht Kesgarh Sahib Jathedar Giani Mal Singh arrived at Gurdwara Amb Sahib earlier today. They held a closed door meeting with Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa.

The meeting was also attended by Bhai Jujhar Singh (son of Bhai Gurbaksh Singh) besides Giani Mal Singh.

It was decided in the meeting that Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa shall accept medical treatment with immediate effect. He shall participate in the Ardas samagam to be held at Akal Takht Sahib on December 27. He shall break his fast after the release of Bhai Shamsher Singh from Burrail Jail.

As regards remaining Sikh prisoners, for whose release the morcha was launched by Bhai Gurbaksh Singh, the Jathedars shall direct Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) and Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) to pursue their cases.

It is notable that the morcha was launched on November 14, 2013 seeking permanent release of Bhai Gurmeet Singh, Shamsher Singh and Lakhwinder Singh who were confined in Burrail jail since 1995. In following days names of three other Sikh prisoners, namely Lal Singh (Nabha Jail) Wariam Singh (Bans Bareli Jail, UP) and Gurdeep Singh Khaira (Gulbarga Jail, Karnatka) were also added to this list.

Bhai Lal Singh was released on December 20 from Nabha Jail on parole for 6 weeks. It was his 21st parole. Bhai Gurmeet Singh was released from parole earlier today and he arrived at Gurdwara Amb Sahib, where the Sangat extended him a warm welcome. It was his first parole and is considered to be the outcome of morcha. Jathedars have ensured that Shamsher Singh shall also be released from prison soon.

Committee commits not to disagree:

It is notable that the members of the committee formed to manage the affairs of Bandi Singhs Riahi Morcha held a meeting in wake of today’s developments and wrote a letter to Giani Gurbachan Singh. The copy of letter has been made public by Sikh Organization for Prisoners’ Welfare (SOPW).

In this letter the committee members – Bhai Harpal Singh Cheema, Bhai RP Singh, Bibi Kulbir Kaur, Bibi Kashmir Kaur, Bhai Satnam Singh Paunta Sahib and Gurnam Singh Sidhu informed Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib that the committee shall not disagree to what ever decision is taken by Jathedars and Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa keeping in view the panthic interests.
