New York/ London (December 12, 2013): The wave of struggle seeking release of Sikh political prisoners who have completed the terms of their sentences has is growing stronger among the Sikh diaspora circles. Protests have been held in London, Melbourne, Surrey, Frankfurt, Birmingham and many other parts of the world to extend support to the cause of Sikh prisoners languishing in various Jails in India despite completing the terms of their sentences.
As per a news reported by Sikh24.Com, an online Sikh news portal, multiple peaceful protests were organized throughout North America to raise awareness of Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa’s mission. Namely, Sikh Sangat in New York, San Francisco and Vancouver came out to show solidarity with a Panthik cause.
“Sikhs were present at the events in large numbers. While the San Francisco and Vancouver protests were organized outside Indian Consulate offices, the New York protest was held at United Nations headquarters on the 20th anniversary of World Human Rights Day”, Sikh24 news reads, which adds further: “Despite severely cold weather, there was an overwhelming response from sangat. Attendees numbering in the hundreds were present at the protests”.
