Gurdaspur: Authorities in Gurdaspur administration have announced that around 12 hour long gun battle involving 3 armed assailants in Gurdaspur district ended at around 5 pm.
Media reports quote authorities saying that a total of three attackers were gunned down at Dinanagar in Gurdaspur district.
The Punjab Police personnel are now conducting search operation to sanitise the building where the attackers were earlier lodged in.
According to CNN-IBN, the deputy collector of Gurdaspur has confirmed that the ongoing operation against assailants has ended after it went on for 11 hours.
According to FirstPoint: [s]o far no group has claimed any responsibility for the attack.
Indian Home Minister is expected to come up with official version of Indian government on today’s attack.
Punjab’s Deputy CM Sukhbir Badal said that attack in Dinanagar was actually an attack on India by Pakistan. While talking to PTC News channel over phone line Sukhbir Badal said that SWAT team raised by the Punjab government played pivotal role in combating attackers during Dinanagar strikes.
According to Zee News: [t]he gunmen have killed seven persons — three civilians and four policemen including Superintendent of Police (Detective), Baljit Singh.
