Pathankot: In a setback to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ahead of the Gurdaspur by-elections, two of its senior leaders, Kulbhushan Singh, who contested the last assembly elections, and its General Secretary, Lakhvir Singh, joined the Congress, along with their supporters, on Saturday in the presence of Punjab Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh.
Welcoming them into the party fold, the chief minister said that the joining of the AAP leaders and workers would further strengthen the Congress and ensure a landslide victory for PPCC president and party nominee, Sunil Jakhar.
While Kulbushan, an advocate, had contested the 2017 assembly polls on AAP ticket from Sujanpur, Lakhvir was the party’s co-ordinator for the Gurdaspur Lok Sabha polls.
