London: Sikh opposition against the controversial movie Nanak Shah Fakir has multiplied manifold after the makers of the movie held premier show of the film in Birmingham and London cities of England. Producer Harinder Sikka held premier show ignoring Sikh voices for withdrawal of the film.

Local sources told Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) that even the audience, particularly Sikh audience, who watched the premier of the movie, opposed it’s further screenings and demanded complete ban on it.

Film’s producer Harinder Sikka tired to convince the media persons and the audience by making out a story of his ‘travel in dream’ with Guru Nanak Ji, but failed to leave any positive impression.

“By holding these screenings Harinder Sikka has expressed his arrogance and seems determined to violate pious Sikh tenets and hurt Sikh sentiments. Akal Takhat Sahib should take immediate notice of Harinder Sikka’s activities and strict action should be taken against him”, a United Khalsa Dal (UK) representative said.

Meanwhile, the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) has also demanded ‘ban’ on the screening of the movie. SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar has written a letter to the Indian government demanding ban on Harinder Sikka’s movie.

Various Sikh bodies, including the Dal Khalsa, have warned Harinder Sikka against release of his controversial movie.

It is notable that portrayal of Sikh Gurus is strictly prohibited under the Sikh tradition and Harinder Sikka’s movie has violates well established Sikh tenets by portraying Guru Nanak Ji, Bebi Nanaki Ji and Bhai Mardana Ji.
