Kaithal, Haryana (August 01, 2014): The leader of the newly formed Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (HSGPC) are planning to file their claim for separate quota for Sikh Yatris from Haryana for visit to Historic Sikh Gurdwaras in Pakistan. After the partition of 1947 many Sikh historic places, including birth place of Guru Nanak Ji, Guru Ramdas Ji and place of martyrdom of Guru Arjan Ji, are now part of Pakistan.
Sikh yatris visit Pakistan on various occasions each year to mark historic and religious days.
The newly constituted separate Gurdwara Committee for the state of Haryana is planning to write to the Indian Home Ministry, urging it to earmark a separate quota for Sikh pilgrims.
This was indicated by HSGPC general secretary Joga Singh, while talking to reporters few days back.
It is pertinent to mention here that Amritsar based Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and Delhi based Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) already have separate quotas.
Besides this many other organizations such as Bhai Mardana Memorial Society and Khalra Action Committee take Jathas to Pakistan to visit Gurdwaras there.
