Haryana Sikh leaders Jhinda, Nalvi “excommunicated” from Sikh panth in unconventional and highly contested way

Amritsar, Punjab (July 16, 2014): According to information available with the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) Haryana Sikh leader, including Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (ad hoc) headers Jagdish Singh Jhinda and Didar Singh Nalvi have been “excommunicated” from the Sikh panth. A directive in this regard has reportedly been issued by Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh. The decision came in a very unconventional and unprecedented manner. Other person excommunicated by Giani Gurbachan Singh is Haryana Cabinet Minister Harmohinder Singh Chatha.

Even after Saka 1978 Nirankari Chief Gurbachan was summoned at Akal Takht Sahib to explain his conduct. A committee was duly formed after he failed to appear before the Akal Takht and only then an edict was issued excommunicating him from the Sikh panth.

But in case of Haryana Sikh leaders, they are not even granted opportunity to explain their conduct. Moreover it’s clear abuse of the process triggered by Punjab’s ruling party Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal).

Highly placed sources have revealed that the Hukamnama issued by Akal Takht Jathedar today was was drafted and finalized in Badal Dal’s core committee in meeting in Chandigarh on 15 July, 2014.

Today’s activity has once again brought the issue of subjugation of Akal Takht Jathedar to the Badal Dal under focus.
