High Court directs Badal govt. to submit “action taken report” on Moga Orbit Bus molestation case

Chandigarh: A Punjab and Haryana High Court bench comprising Justices Hemant Gupta and Lisa Gill today issued notices to the Punjab government and the Orbit Aviation in Moga Orbit Bus molestation case. The court also directed the state government to submit a report on the action taken against the bus staff.

The High Court also sought information about bus operators in the state, including details of ownership. Court asked the state to give information on the number of buses owned by Punjab Roadways, PRTC and private operators in Punjab along with details of ownership of each operator.

High Court directs Badal govt. to submit “action taken report” on Moga Orbit Bus molestation caseNotices were issued to Punjab Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, owners of the transport company Orbit Aviation whose bus was involved in the incident and the state’s Transport Commissioner. The concerned parties are directed to file their response by May 15.

The court directed the state to produce the action-taken report against the driver, conductor and other staff of the bus, owned by Orbit Aviation belonging to Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s relatives

The division bench of the High Court asked the counsel of Aam Aadmi Party R S Bains and another advocate H S Arora to withdraw their applications on the issue and appointed them as “amicus curiae” in this case.

It may be recalled that on April 29 a teenage girl was pushed out of a running bus (belonging to Orbit Aviation) allegedly by the bus staff near Moga. They were reportedly push off the bus after they resisted to molestation bids by some miscreants and the bus conductor. The girl aged 13 years had died on the spot while his mother aged around 35 had received multiple injuries.
