Hissar, Haryana (July 02, 2012): A delegation of survivors of Hondh, Pataudi and Gurgaon headed by Karnail Singh Peermohammad President of All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF – Peermohammad), appeared before Garg Commission to present the evidence related to November 1984 genocidal attacks on Sikh population. Survivors, AISSF and Sikh for Justice (SFJ) demanded that Justice Garg should visit the ruins of genocidal sites at Hondh, Pataudi and Gurgaon. The delegation also demanded that Commission should take action on FIR No. 91 dated November 03, 1984 and issue arrest warrant of persons named in that FIR.
The delegation led by Federation demanded that Justice Garg should follow the April 27 orders of the Punjab and Haryana High Court enlarging the terms of reference for the Commission to include the claims of the victims belonging to the areas of Patuadi or any other area of District Gurgaon.
Referring to the 26 years of delay in forming the commission to investigate the genocidal attacks of November 1984 in Haryana, Federation President lamented that “Justice Delayed is Justice Denied” and vowed to approach the highest court of the country against the denial of justice. During the past 27 years, several commissions have failed to properly investigate and punish the perpetrators of November 1984 genocidal attacks in which more than thirty thousand Sikhs were killed in a systematic manner throughout India added Peermohammad.
Surjit Kaur who lost twelve members of her family during November 1984 genocidal attack on village Hondh-Chillar stated that even Justice Garg after passage of one year, has not visited the site where my family along with several other Sikhs were burnt to death and the ruins of the houses are still screaming for justice. “I have been waiting for justice for the last three decades and successive commissions have failed to bring the perpetrators to justice” added Ms. Kaur.
Justice Garg is heading the one man Commission set up the by State of Haryana on March 05, 2011 in response to the discovery of Mass Grave in village Hondh-Chillar, District Rewari wherein several dozen Sikhs were killed and their properties were burnt in November 1984.
The delegation that presented evidence before the Garg Commission included AISSF President Peermohammad Surjit Kaur, Gopal Malik, Prem Singh, Uttam Singh, Advocate Ashok Kumar and others.
