Imposing Nationalism: Make Students Say ‘Jai Hind’ For Roll Call In Schools, Says MP Education Minister

November 28, 2017 | By

Bhopal: Education minister of the BJP lead Madhya Pradesh government Vijay Shah on Sunday reportedly directed all the schools in the state that they should tell the students to say ‘Jai Hind’ during their daily roll calls instead of saying conventional words like ‘yes mam’ or ‘yes sir’.

While justifying his decision during an interaction with the media Vijay Shah claimed that this was being done to instill a sense of patriotism in the youth. “This will instill a sense of patriotism among the youth. I don’t think anyone will have an objection to it”, he adds.

Such an announcement is seen by many as an imitation of the decree passed by the Supreme Court of India (SCI) in November last year in which it had dictated cinemas throughout the country to play its Jan Gan Man anthem before the screening of the movie. The excuse given by the SCI was that it will help the habitats of the Indian Sub-continent to become more patriotic.

The minister made the announcement  while addressing NCC cadets on the National Cadet Corps Day on Sunday. He said that this would be enforced in all 1.22 lakh government schools, and an advisory in this regard would also be issued to all private schools, notes The Quit.
