Chandigarh/ Amritsar: As PM Natendra Modi led the grand yoga event in Chandigarh, the Dal Khalsa asserted that practising yoga was a private affair and making it a government sponsored mega function was ridiculous.
The organization termed the imposition of yoga on citizens representing different faith and ideology as one form of the ‘saffron terrorism’ unleashed by RSS backed present Indian dispensation.
Party’s spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh strongly hits out at Union as well as Akali government for using ‘state power & machinery’ to further the saffron agenda .
He expressed shock and anger over the nightmare faced by Patiala students and termed the Badal government as heartless. He said the government has no legal right to forcibly call the students to participate in the function that has pure political overtones.
He demanded that Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal should personally tender apology to the parents of the wards who faced all-night ordeal. He said the Akali Dal led by Badals has now become an offshoot of the RSS/BJP and their single aim was to enjoy the power and privileges.
He said it’s ironic that the present day government was imposing yoga on all citizens. He said the RSS backed government in New Delhi was spreading its tentacles in all spheres be it educational or cultural.
He cited the divisive remarks of Member Parliament from Agra and Minister of State for Human Resource Development Ram Shankar Katheria that, “there will be saffronisation of education and the country”.
