Delhi, India (March 11, 2013): Ram Singh, one of the accused persons facing trial in a recent Delhi gangrape case, has reportedly died in Tihar jail under suspicious circumstances.
As per media reports Ram Singh, the main accused in the Delhi gangrape case, was found hanging at 5 am on March 11, 2013 morning inside the Tihar Jail.
Ram Singh, one of the six accused in the Delhi gangrape case, was the driver of the bus in which a 23-year-old paramedical student was raped and fatally injured.
The brother of the Delhi gangrape victim reported said that he wasn’t shocked by Ram Singh’s suicide and didn’t blame Tihar Jail authorities.
“He has given himself a punishment. I do not blame the Tihar Jail authorities,” he said.
As per recent reports police is terming it as a case of suicide while the family of the deceased allege murder.
It is learnt that the accused was not kept in solitary confinement but was sharing his cell with other inmates.
“There was no reason for him to commit suicide. There is some foul play,” V.K. Anand, lawyer of the deceased accused said.
“Ram Singh did not kill himself. He was murdered,” father of the deceased reportedly told certain media sections.
