New Delhi, India: India has expressed it’s problems with “what’s the problem” statement by Abdul Basit, High Commissioner of Pakistan for India. Pak High Commissioner yesterday said that “Hafiz Saeed is a Pakistani national, he is free to roam around. What’s the problem?”. He was responding to a media query on reports that Hafiz Saeed was roaming around freely in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

India today hit out at Pakistan for failing to act against Hafiz Saeed for his alleged role in 26/11 Mumbai attacks. Notably, India regards JuD chief Haifz Saeed as the mastermind of the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

During a press conference, External Affairs Ministry spokesman Syed Akbaruddin said, “Our views on Hafiz Saeed are pretty clear. To us he is the […] mastermind of the attacks on Mumbai. To us he is one of the accused in an Indian court of killing on the streets of Mumbai.”

Akbaruddin stated that India was clearly upset over Pak High Commissioner Abdul Basit’s statement.

Pakistan has arrested seven men for the Mumbai attacks when a total of 166 people were killed during the assault on India’s financial hub by around 10 armed gunmen in November 2008.
