India: Government should release Prof. Bhullar immediately

Amritsar, Punjab (March 31, 2014): Dal Khalsa’s spokesperson Kanwarpal Singh said by commuting the death sentence of Sikh political prisoner Prof. Devinder Pal Singh Bhullar into life, the Supreme Court of India has corrected the mistake of Indian judicial and governance system that has delayed his freedom for so long.

“The Justice will be served only when he will be set free as he had already served 19 years behind bars” Kanwarpal Singh said.
In a statement he said the Union Home Ministry should immediate order his release on humanitarian and health grounds.
He said Prof. Bullar deserves freedom as he had suffered a lot and his reunion with his family members is required for his well-being.
Reiterating their principle stand that world should be without capital punishment, he said India should abolish death penalty from its statue.
