New Delhi: A Ph. D. scholar from Manipur was found ‘murdered’ at his rented residence in south Delhi’s Kotla Mubarakpur area of Delhi last night. The deceased has been identified as Zingram Kengo. He was 33 years old and was pursuing doctorate from Tata Institute of Social Sciences.
Reports say that Zingram Kengo had come to Delhi just months ago and was living in Kotla Mubarakpur in a rented accommodation.
According to the police [t]he body was found last night in a pool of blood on the mat by his landlord’s brother at around 9:30 PM. Police were informed at 10 PM following which a team was rushed to the spot.
Crime and forensic teams visited the spot and collected evidence. The body has been sent for postmortem and his family has been informed.
“Prima facie, it does not appear linked to robbery. We are investigating the case from all possible angles,” he said.
A case of murder has been registered and further investigation is on, police said.
It was not clear if the incident was part of hate wave against north-eastern state’s students in the capital city of India. In recent past many students from north-east have faced attacked in Delhi.
