December 23, 2015 | By

Lisbon, Portugal (Dec. 21, 2015): In the extradition proceedings of Paramjit Singh Pamma, a judge in Evora, Portugal, asked the Government Of India to produce the evidence of terror related charges against the UK based Sikh separatist by January 04, 2016. A release by the Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) notes that Paramjit Singh Pamma, a UK based Sikh activist is being held in Portugal at the behest of Indian government on the charges of murder and bombings.

As per written press release issued by Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the SFJ has appointed Manuel Luis Ferreira, to defend Paramjit Singh Pamma in extradition proceedings before Portuguese court. Lawyer Ferreira who is member of the Association of Lawyers Without Borders in Portugal has previously defended terror suspect Abu Salem from India and American black panther activists George Wright.

Citing India’s violation of extradition agreement in Abu Salem’s case, attorney Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, legal advisor to SFJ who is camped in Lisbon, Portugal to coordinate Pamma’s defense, stated that “Portugal should not extradite Sikh activist to India where he will face torture, life imprisonment or death sentence”.

Charges against Paramjit Singh Pamma are politically motivated and part of India’s ongoing campaign to silence the Sikh activists living outside India, added attorney Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.

Indian authorities have alleged involvement of Paramjit Singh Pamma in 2009 murder of Rulda Singh, head of the Rashtriya Sikh Sangat and 2010 bomb blasts in Patiala and Ambala. He was arrested on December 18 Algarve by the Foreigners and Borders Service (SEF) of Portugal pursuant to an Interpol warrant issued by the Indian Government.

Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) has learnt that the trial of all three cases in which Paramjit Singh Pamma has been named by the Indian authorities, has already ended against other co-accused (trial court judgements will be shared soon) resulting in acquittal of all persons tried in these cases.
