London: The Indian authorities today tendered documents supporting their claim to seek extradition of UK asylum holder Paramjit Singh Pamma to Portuguese authorities. Pamma was arrested from Portugal on December 18 by Interpol. A team of senior officials of the Punjab police had also reached Portugal to submit extradition papers for Paramjit Singh Pamma to the court.
Sources said that now the papers will be examined by appropriate Portuguese prosecution authorities after which the copies of the papers would be handed over to Paramjeet Singh Pamma’s counsel on record.
“India has submitted documents to Portugal government. Portuguese government will review documents and decide if case against Bhai Pamma will proceed or not. Bhai Pamma has been given 20 days of detention pending extradition”, reads an update by the Sikhs For Justice (SFJ).
