Srinagar/ Chandigarh: It is learnt that the Jammu and Kashmir administration today issued orders to withdraw security of five pro-freedom Kashmiri leaders.
The security cover for Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Shabir Shah, Abdul Gani Lone, Bilal Lone and Hashim Qureshi has been withdrawn, reports in Indian media notes. However, there is no mention of pro-freedom leader and All Party Hurriyat Conference chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani in the order.
The move comes days after Indian home minister Rajnath Singh, during his visit to Srinagar on Friday, had said security given to people allegedly getting funds from Pakistan and its snooping agency ISI should be reviewed.
Rajnath Singh had made this statement after reviewing security in the aftermath of fedayeen attack in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
According to the order issued, all security and vehicles provided to these leaders will stand withdrawn by Sunday evening. No security forces or cover will be provided, under any pretext, to them, media reports quote officials.
It is notable that the Jammu and Kashmir is presently under Indian presidents rule.
