Indian PM seeks report from I&B Ministry on certification of Sadda Haq movie

Dr. Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of India

New Delhi, India (April 07, 2013): According to certain media reports Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has asked the information and broadcasting ministry to look into the matter that how the Sadda Haq movie was cleared by Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) and send a detailed report.

The movie was initially banned by India’s Central Board of Film Certification. The review plea against ban was also dismissed by CBFC. Then the producers of Sadda Haq moved to FCAT that is also a statutory body where the appeals against decisions CBFC lie under the law. After through examination the FCAT cleared the movie with condition of certain changes in the movie.

As per recent media reports the Indian PM has asked the IB ministry to seek the opinion of experts in the matter.

It is notable that the movies is based on events of 1980s-90s in Punjab. During this period mass atrocities were committed on civilian Sikh pollution of Punjab and it seems that the Indian state wants to hide it’s black deeds of that period at all costs.
