Ludhiana (March 31, 2013): It is learnt that Justice M. B. Shah, head of three judges constitutional bench of Supreme Court of India that heard the appeal of Prof. Devinderpal Singh Bhullar against death sentence, had acquitted Prof. Bhullar in his separate Judgement on March 22, 2002. But other two judges in their separate judgement awarded death penalty to Prof. Bhullar. This is a unique case in which death penalty is awarded by any apex court of India in a “split decision”.

Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur, Press Secretary of Akali Dal Panch Pardhani (ADPP), has sent a Punjabi translation of the judgement of Justice M. B. Shah, that is reproduced as follows:-
