Srinagar, Kashmir (March 22, 2013): As per a news report published by Greater Kashmir on March 21, 2012: “[p]aying rich tributes to 35 Sikhs who were killed in Chattisinghpora massacre in March 2000 in south Kashmir, the All India Sikh Students’ Federation has demanded CBI probe into it”.

In a statement today, a spokesman of the Federation said, “Even after 13 years, the government is yet to produce a clue about the people involved in the Chattisinghpora massacre.”, the news report reads further.

It is notable that in year 2000, when then USA President Bill Clinton was on a visit to India, 35 Sikhs were killed in Chattisinghpora by “unidentified” gunmen. However many Human Rights reports have raised finger towards Indian army for planning & executing these killings to defame Kashmiri movement against Indian occupation.

Thirteen years have passed and there is no explanation by Indian state or army or judiciary for the brutal massacre of Sikhs.

It is further notable that the Indian army had claimed to make a breakthrough in the case by killing five “militants”. It was claimed by the army that those five “militants” were responsible for Chattisinghpora massacre; but later, the five killed militants turned out to be civilians from local villages.
