Kashmiri Youth’s killing: Hurriyat approaches NHRC to urge probe

Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference has reportedly filed a petition before the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) seeking its investigation in Budgam Incident in which a class 9 student Suhail Ahmad Sofi was shot dead by a CRPF constable following instructions from ASI Manzoor Ahmad. Hurriyat has demanded for suspension of the accused cops and prosecution in civil court in the petition.

As per media reports the Hurriyat has blamed of the adherence of government forces from Standard Operational Procedure. It states that despite of charging the accused cops under section 302 of Ranbir Penal Code by J-K police, simultaneous investigation of the case by NHRC is possible.

Meanwhile the Chief Minister of valley Mufti Muhammad Sayeed has termed the killing of youth in Budgama as unfortunate killing. He has asked the Military forces to deal with the situation carefully.

It is noteworthy that a youth of 17 years was shot dead by the CRPF during the shutdown called by Huriat leader Syed Ali Shah Gilani against the unfair arrests of his party leader along with Masrat Alam. The J&K police have also arrested the two accused cops and filed cases under sections 302, 147, 149, 341 and 427 of Ranbir Penal Code. Concerned SHO Khursheed-ur-Rehman has also been arrested for lack of supervision. The police had admitted that the cops acted violating the laid down ‘Standards Operating Procedures (SOP)’.
