Tarn Taran, Punjab: In a tribute to the courage and sacrifice of Sikh women during the Sikh freedom movement of the 1980s and 1990s, a groundbreaking book titled “Kaurnama: Kharkoo Sangharsh Dian Shaheed Bibian Dee Gatha” was unveiled yesterday during a solemn Shaheedi Samgam at Village Panjwar.
Authored by Baljinder Singh Kotbhara, under the mentorship of Panth Sewak and prominent figure of the Sikh freedom movement, Bhai Daljit Singh, “Kaurnama” stands as the first comprehensive documentation of the extraordinary saga of Shaheed Sikh women who laid down their lives for the cause of freedom. This monumental work was the brainchild of the late Shaheed Bhai Paramjit Singh Panjwar, who was assassinated in exile in Lahore, Pakistan, on May 6, 2023.
The release ceremony was attended by prominent Sikh personalities, including Bhai Daljit Singh himself, alongside Bhai Satnam Singh Khandewala, Bhai Hardeep Singh Mehraj, Bhai Sukhdev Singh Doad, Bhai Amrik Singh Isru, and Bhai Harpal Singh Cheema, along with the brothers of Shaheed Bhai Paramjit Singh Panjwar.
The book was presented to the family members of Sikh Shaheeds, including the descendants of the Shaheed Sikh women whose valor and resilience are immortalized within its pages. Each copy of “Kaurnama” serves as a testament to the indomitable spirit of Sikh women who fearlessly stood at the forefront of the struggle for their community’s rights and dignity.
As “Kaurnama” takes its place among the annals of Sikh history, it not only honors the legacy of those who fought and fell but also inspires future generations to uphold the values of courage, righteousness, and selfless service. Through its pages, the voices of the Shaheed Sikh women echo with a timeless resonance, reminding us all of the power of resilience and the enduring quest for freedom.
