Kiran Bedi continues with preaching tone; Offers explanation, suggestions in her Open Letter

February 16, 2015 | By

New Delhi: Kiran Bedi may have lost Delhi’s election and the desirous seat of Delhi CM, but her “preaching tone” continues. An “Open Letter” posted by Kiran Bedi on her blog “Crane Bedi” affirms it.

In her first open response to fellow citizens, Kiran Bedi said she opted for electoral politics not for position or power but for serving the city that has been her home for over 40 years.

Narrating her tryst with law and order problems in Delhi, Bedi said she put her efforts nor for any glory, but “because the service and situations demanded it.”

Commenting on her entry into politics, she said, “I stepped into electoral politics because I wanted to give my city all I still had, when I was given the feeling that I could be of value. I wanted to see it get a stable government in alignment with Government of India to get all that Delhi needed.”

Bedi also admitted she failed the test and she takes full responsibility for her decision. “But inside me has not failed. Because given the time I gave to myself I gave it all the energy and experience I had. Obviously it was not enough.”

Bedi, in her response to citizens, suggested the electoral campaigns should be reworked so that they do not hamper the basic rights of citizens. During an election campaign, whole city or state comes to a grinding halt, she said.

“Roads are in disarray, and work just stops. Everything is too loud, uncouth at times, insulting to thin skinned, false, insinuating, biased, revengeful, corrupt, wasteful, highly disruptive of common man’s needs, breaking all laws, and sending all wrong messages. It’s not a level playing field for the levelheaded serving people. It’s a field for might and muscle in all respects.”

Bedi also took on AAP’s promises saying that people want implementable visions and plans. But they also want freebies- the more you give, more you get.

She added it’s time every public servant becomes a stake holder in governing this country.
