Chandigarh: Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara’s lawyer and spokesperson Advo. Amar Singh Chahal today clarified that Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara has not resigned from the post of Jathedar. He said that the letter that went viral over social media was an old letter and the things have changed after that.

Talking to Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) over phone, Advo. Amar Singh Chahal said that he along with other persons had met Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara few days back (after the date of letter i.e. 21/Nov./2016) and Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara had issued a fresh letter.

“As per directions of the new letter by Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara, we also participated in a gathering called by SAD (Amritsar) and other organizations at village Rode on Nov. 28 to discuss the preparations of “Sarbat Khalsa” (Dec. 8 gathering at Talwandi Sabo).”, he added.

On being asked about whether the letter that went viral was authentic or fake as per his knowledge or he had no direct knowledge in this regard, Advo. Amar Singh Chahal said: [t]he letter was written by Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara to other Jathedar Sahib; so it is authentic but it must be noted that was a private correspondent and did not meant for public. No one had right to make this letter public and anyone who has made it viral over social media did not do the right thing as this was not in the interest of the Sikh panth.

“Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara was appointed by the Sarbat Khalsa and only the Sarbat Khalsa could decide about his alleged resignation so no one has the right in this regard, including the acting Jathedars” said Advocate Chahal.

It is notable Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara’s letter that went viral over social media few days ago has been topic of heated discussion among the Sikh circles. After giving careful watch to the development Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) had carried a news about this issue after talking to Akhand Kirtani Jatha leader Bhai R. P. Singh on Dec. 3, 2016.

The letter which says that Bhai Hawara had told acting Jathedars – Bhai Dhian Singh Mand, Bhai Baljeet Singh Daduwal and Bhai Amrik Singh Ajnala to not to use his name as Jathedar and he had also dissented from the December 8 gathering, was authenticated by Bhai R. P. Singh of Akhand Kirtani Jatha.

Talking to SSN Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar (Mann) leader Bhai M. P. Singh had said that Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara has not resigned and he has also endorsed the “Sarbat Khalsa“. Bhai M. P. Singh had expressed ignorance about the letter or its content.

Sikh Siyasat News also talked on Bhai R. P. Singh again today who said that the letter and its content were authentic but said that the things might have changed now. He said that anyone alleging that the letter was fake should prove his claim.
