Chandigarh/ Punjab (July 08, 2013): According to a news reported by the Day and Night News (DNN) suspended Punjab cop Surjit Singh (Sub-Inspector) has stated that he had actively participated in four encounters first. In these encounters Sheetal Singh Mattewal, Deputy Chief of Dashmesh Regiment of Khalistan and seven others were killed”.
According to DNN, the petition moved by Surjit Singh SI in Punjab and Haryana High Court states that Mattewal’s encounter was real but later, his wife Narinder Kaur and two brothers were picked up and killed extra judiciously.
He has also given a list of 16 other encounters, which according to his petition were fake and several persons were killed under the supervision of Paramjit Singh Gill, the then Senior Superintendent of Police, Amritsar, who has been promoted to the post of Inspector General of Police and is presently posted as Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana.
