Ludhiana Municipal Corporation Election: Congress Wins 62 Wards, SAD (Badal)-BJP Manages 21

Ludhiana: As per the media reports the state Congress while continuing with its wining streak in the Municipal Corporation polls (MC) on Tuesday ousted the Badal-BJP alliance out of Ludhiana MC by wining on 62 wards, reducing the Badal-BJP combine to merely 21 wards. SAD (Badal) and BJP were relegated to second and third position, with 11 and 10 wards, winning respectively.

The voting, which was held on Saturday, saw clashes between the Congress and Opposition party workers amid allegations of booth capturing. As many as 494 candidates were in the fray for a total of 95 wards.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Election Commission had ordered repolling in two booths of wards number 44 on account of bogus voting and booth capturing. Re-polling was held in booth numbers 2 and 3 of ward number 44 from 8 am to 4 pm Monday, media reports said.
